It's made out of a double layer of cotton fabric which holds air when wet, and concealed in a pocket inside the shirt there is a small chemical packet which releases a harmless gas between these layers when saturated with water. It is described as inflating in 45 seconds and remaining buoyant for 45 minutes, after which the inflation can be prolonged indefinately through a mouth valve concealed in the front pocket. Obtainable in red, blue, beige and orange, in sizes for the whole family, prices range from $7.95 to $9.95. The chemical packet is replaceable at 39 cents.
