Market Ministries, Inc. is now actively soliciting sponsorships, seeking to ensure that the agency's programs are sustained well into the future, allowing programs such as transitional housing to expand to meet ever-increasing needs during these challenging economic times.

The agency's Board is pursuing its long range planning initiative, creating a blueprint for the future of the agency in accordance with its mission to serve the homeless and hungry of Greater New Bedford with food, shelter and compassionate support. ONE MILLION meals have been served and over THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND beds have been made during the 26 year history of the agency.

Sister Rosellen Gallogly, RSM, has served as Executive Director of Market Ministries, Inc. since its inception, and "Sister Rose" celebrated 60 years as a Sister of Mercy during 2008.

Market Ministries is a nonprofit organization that provides a variety of services to the needy, particularly the homeless and hungry. It operates a meals program at the Pilgrim United Church of Christ in New Bedford, serving a noontime meal five days a week; an emergency shelter program for men at 60 Eighth Street in the city; a transitional house in the city's West End; and several other direct and referral services for the area's needy.
